A lot of the buzz around Royal Caribbean right now is related to its next new ship, Wonder of the Seas. Scheduled to debut in just over three months, it'll be the new world's largest cruise ship and chock full of over-the-top attractions that will make it a top pick for megaship lovers. But the special effects I saw during The Effectors show (along with the eye-catching costumes and catchy pop tunes -- I admit I'm a sucker for Kelly Clarkson) had me glued to my seat to the last standing ovation.

Chef and sommelier Troy Knapp makes Michelin-level menus on his luxury sailboat Cru Classé. Back at the Wharf for its third year, the detail-oriented captain brings fine-dining to the dock with artfully plated courses, decadent floral arrangements, seafaring table settings, and French wines he pours himself. Knapp also mans other Wharf vessels for parties of six or more, partnering with Nautiste to offer dining excursions with his catering company Curated. Docks are home to a surge of drinking vessels designed for every occasion, vibe, and price point. A returning line of retro motor boats are apparently the ticket to getting engaged, with seven proposals out on the water last year.

You'll find everything from multiple pool areas and a kiddie splash zone on board to a skydiving simulator, a virtual reality bungee trampoline, a rock-climbing wall and a surfing pool. As with most Royal ships, the complimentary dining destinations may begin to feel limited after a few days of eating in the MDR, Sorrento’s Pizza, and the Windjammer or Solarium buffets. The ship boasts 15 total dining destinations; there’s even a Starbucks. In our opinion, Royal Caribbean has hit another home run with Odyssey of the Seas. Whether you are a family sailing with kids or a couple traveling on your honeymoon (or anything in between), we think it would be hard not to enjoy the ship.

These vessels also have Bionic Bar where "bartending robots" mix up cocktails ordered via a tablet. For those who haven't been on a Quantum Class ship before, the two70 venues found on the five vessels in the series are truly groundbreaking spaces. But the ship's designers also found a way to squeeze in a virtual reality bungee trampoline attraction called Sky Pad -- something you won't find on any other Quantum Class ship based in North America. Phenomenal British singers and guitarists make having a nightcap in the English pub Crown & Compass on the Promenade a perfect way to end a wonderful day at sea or port.

If you start your hike by hiking past Mosquito Falls to Mosquito Beach, you will finish your hike by hiking up past Chapel Falls from Chapel Rock to the Chapel Basin Area parking lot. Vice versa, if you began your hike by hiking past Chapel Falls to Chapel Rock, you will finish your hike by hiking past Mosquito Falls from Mosquito Beach to the Chapel Basin parking area. When visiting the Chapel Basin area, be aware that the Chapel Road is a gravel road. If the weather has been wet, the road can sometimes have large puddles and be challenging to navigate. The parking area also fills up very early in the day when the weather is nice, so I would plan on arriving early if you want to hike in the area.

My recommendation would be to fly into either Milwaukee or Chicago and drive up to Pictured Rocks from there as it is a reasonable drive from both cities. The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is located in the Upper Peninsula of the state of Michigan on the southern shore of Lake Superior. There is a large parking lot with an upper and lower viewpoint for viewing Miner’s Castle, as well as beach access for those who want to go into the water or launch their kayak. If you would really like to get out onto the waters of Lake Superior to see the beautiful Pictured Rocks coastline but aren’t up for going kayaking, there is another option you should consider. Several tour companies in the Munising, Michigan area offer boat cruises along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. This is especially true if you plan on getting out on the waters of Lake Superior to go kayaking, canoeing, or swimming.

This is a loop hike, so the trail both begins and ends at the Chapel Basin Area parking lot. From there, you can either hike past Mosquito Falls to Mosquito Beach or past Chapel Falls to Chapel Rock. Regardless of which direction you hike, once you reach the coastline you will follow the Lakeshore North Country Trail along Lake Superior for roughly 4 miles. Because of its size, you need to plan your time wisely if you want to see all there is to see when visiting.
